[i]alfador_fox: Weekend

[info]siraj came up from Oregon Friday, to visit me.

And it was awesome!

There were snuggles. There was video gaming. I broke out WarioWare Smooth Moves for the first time since I bought it used, and found it to be hilariously cheesy. [info]siraj loved Super Paper Mario and played a little bit of Okami too.

We were going to go see Wall-E together, but after getting horrendously lost and traffic-smacked on the way to and from Papa Murphy's (We should've just taken the bus despite him having a car!) the poor little dragon was in no mood to go out.

And I FINALLY made the blueberry crisp I've been meaning to make for someone all these months! I need to ge the recipe from my mom since there are way more frozen berries left than crisp. It is DELICIOUS.

Saturday our guild tried Zul'Aman. [info]siraj watched as I waited about an HOUR for it to start... but it wasn't due to stupidity, it was due to our main healer's motherboard having fried the previous day, and our tank was desperately getting her computer back from the store. (I forget whether they live near each other, or are roommates, or siblings...) Then because of the hour wait, one of the people who'd signed up decided to flake out "for a couple hours." Another was on a non-guild alt and so didn't hear the call going out.

Airn wanted us to try to do the timed event. It was all I could do to keep from laughing on vent. Admirably ambitious, but... there is no way a group that's never done Zul'Aman together before is going to do more than MAYBE the first chest of the timed event (we didn't manage it), no matter how much the raid leader knows the strategy.

We did manage to get the Eagle and Bear bosses down, though. I let it be known in no uncertain terms that we should concentrate on learning the four battles these first few weeks before we try to zoom around doing them fast enough for the timed chests. I do think that once we get the strategy down, we are definitely geared enough to go all the way to Zul'Jin.

[info]siraj had to leave early today to avoid rush hour both here and in Oregon; he encountered a lot of traffic coming up and didn't want a repeat.

I want to have more peoples over at my place in the coming months. Going out to visit friends is cool, but I want to entertain people at my place too! I have a couple of tables that could be good for D&D... ;)

Today... Karazhan again!

[i]ravenworks: actually, technically the night is BRIGHTEST just before dawn, but hey!

The Dark Knight!

Some very crappy dialogue, and some very crappy acting. But, overall, really well put-together, and man I cannot get Heath Ledger's performance out of my head. This is a movie that does a lot of stuff really well, and also does some stuff pretty average/crappily, and unfortunately the crappy stuff just stands out that much more starkly because of it... but still, by all means, go see it, one of the better movies I've seen lately. Well well worth seeing just for the stuff they get right, because boy does it ever work :P

On the other hand I got back like 2 AM! Ow my head. Today I visit the dietician again, and then over to a friend's place for his birthday and the second Futurama movie! HUZZAH!

Also: Happy birthday [info]jean_luccougar! *hughug! :D*

[i]thetakogun:

Well... the 15th has come and past, which means another year-marker of my life has passed me by. 24 years on this planet, I can't help but think I've wasted most of it. But then, much of that was time I had little choice of what to do with it, so I can't complain too much.

So... I suppose I should update things a bit here. The 4th was fun, as always. $500 in fireworks between myself and my friends, enough to keep us busy with explosions and pretty burning things for the better part of a day, good food and company. Always enjoyable, that time. Expensive, but I plan for it. Wouldn't have it any other way.

My computer recently have a major breakdown, leaving me little choice but to replace pretty much the entire thing. Had to dip into the money I was saving to pay off the school so I could get back into classes, to the tune of about $600. But I've been putting in extra hours at work to make up for it, and last month's bonus was just over $200 after taxes, so I'm confidant I can squeeze through money-wise to get back into classes in the fall. Something I'm really eager to do, since I really want to prove to myself that I can make it though college just fine when I'm not battling mental and emotional scars at the same time.

As of the the 16th, It's been a month since I began my serious attempt at dieting. And though I did not manage my goal of 100lbs lost in the first year, I did come close. 12 months later I'm down to 236 from 331, a loss of 95lbs. I've dropped from size 3X-4X shirts to but a single X, or even just a L if I don't mind it being just a little tight and flaunty (is that even a word?). Not sure what pant-size I can wear now, but the ones I have are VERY loose and my belt has tightened by almost a foot. I've still got a bit to go, though. According to BMI charts, I'm still Obese and need to loose another 47lbs to be in the "healthy" range. But BMI is, of course, bullshit. By my last skin-fold measurement (Which, granted, was 5 years ago) I should have approx. 16.5% body fat, in the "fit" range for men. I'm going to guess I've lost lean body mass since then, but I really should get a pair of calipers to re-test myself. Regardless, I still want to lose a little more weight. Maybe down to 210? I've still got a bit of a belly that I'm not fond of, so when that goes away I'll stick to that. Though I should soon concentrate less on fat loss and more on fitness. Cardio workouts, maybe a bit of muscle toning and the like. I think my next big financial goal after getting back into school is going to be a decent Elliptical machine. I've been using the one at the gym on campus off and on for the past two months, and it's something I'm confidant I could do every day, maybe even twice a day, if I had access to it at decent times.

The biggest advantage to this, by far, is the attitude changes. I'm not quite so reserved anymore. Not quite as shy. I don't resort to self-deprecating humor on a regular basis. I've gained confidence, self-esteem, more outward pride and the like. Just as an example, a phrase I've found myself saying more then a few times lately (not sarcastically but not serious either, in good humor so to speak) "...because I'm just that good." I dunno, I just feels good to have confidence in myself for once. Not something I'm really used to yet.

Other than that... not too much is really going on in my life. Still spending the summer with my boyfriend (when I'm not working or otherwise busy). Not really much to say there that isn't either boring, sickeningly cute/sweet/sappy, or very [VERY] personal. So yea, no details for you. =P

I guess that's it for the moment. I'll try to check in some time sooner than 3-months next time.

[i]guido_jacobs:

I need to make a website for my new employer. It needs to have an order form that uses uses a credit card, and I only have hardware experience. Anyone have any suggestions?

-Edit-
Does anyone have experience with commercial website programming? I mean, the kind that use online financial transactions? Because at the moment, an Amish hacker would be able to hack anything I make. I need serious programming help! And no, security+ would not help in programming websites. that deals mainly with firewalls, and network hacking.

In other words, HELP! ;_;

[i]krinndnz: Treacherous Technology Starts Long Before Computers

I'm still alive, but not for much longer if recent events are any indicator. Today I was outwitted twice by a bicycle pump. I'm not sure I can be trusted to dress myself in the morning. I'm going to chalk that up to "learning by examining your assumptions" and move on. On my bicycle. Which I will not fall off of.

It's 1:48 in the morning.
I'm watching 'Canada's Worst Handyman 2*'.
They just ran a trailer ad for 'The Mummy 3**'

I'm sort of amazed that somewhere, some executive knows their target audience that well.

* In the tradition of bad movies everywhere, I decree "Canada's Worst Handyman 2: Electric Boogaloo".

[i]relee: Japanese Art!

A friend linked the first one, which links to the subsequent ones. It was a locked post and I want everybody to see this stuff. This is some Japanese Art. As in, art-art. By Japanese people. Who all lived in New York for a while, it seems.

Futurist Japanese Artists
Takashi Murakami
Yayoi Kusama
Mariko Mori

It's some pretty good stuff.

[i]circuit_four: 450 strips and he hasn't caught on

"So, Randall. I couldn't help noticing your Universal Female Geek exists as a supplement to your Universal Male Geek. By translating your notion of whimsy into an unassimilable Other, I think you're actually abstracting it into something safely unachievable. Your authorial voice may denigrate, romanticize, or even insist upon the irrational, but never actually integrates it into a coherent sense of self. He wants to see the feminine, protean, ecstatic world. He wants to quest after it. He wants it in his gaze. It's obliged to transport him and enthrall him but is not permitted to transform him. But to actually attain it, to make it something worthy of his silence and impervious to analysis, would destroy him."

There. 29 Seconds.

(Hey, just teasing him back. Lit nerds represent. :) Many thanks to [info]lhexa for a far more insightful version of the above.)

Well! Just to change it up, this morning I'm feeling like I have a cold instead of feeling tired! Just for freshness I guess. :p I wonder if it's allergies or what. My soy milk's got the same vitamin D and calcium as the milk I used to drink... it could also be from eating more than I usually do? God knows.

Thank goodness it's friday! Going to my friend's bachelor party tomorrow.... my very very christian friend's bachelor party.. which consists of Smash Bros. in the church basement. ;P Gotta love that guy. Going to his wedding next week! Exciting and scary. :)

Also: omg, what a big kitty... Lovely video, though I apologize in advance for their choice of music.. :p But I had to go give my kittycat a hug after I saw that, how could I not ;)

Oh man, I just wanna link to EVERYTHING in my youtube favorites... but I assume that everyone feels that way, so I'll spare you :p But god help me I'm still self-indulgent enough to link to my favorites. XP I try to be stringent about what gets into them. Anything you haven't seen?

Arright, I should get going.... stomach's a lump right now, and I feel like my skin is covered in wet tissue paper or something... but I'll live ;P One more day of work! Got a few projects I've been wanting to work on at home, but haven't had the energy lately... maybe I'll just make a keyboard macro for that sentence, how does that sound ;P Oh, speaking of keyboard macros, I got a G11, which basically just makes me wonder why in god's name keyboard shortcuts aren't always reassignable... I think it's roughly time for that sea change! We've got this whole giant input device taking up space on our desks, and it's only useful when you're typing words... (I still eagerly await the touch-screen-as-keyboard, so the whole thing can remap itself to be a series of controls for whatever program you're using..) erm, didn't I start this paragraph saying I should get going? X3

Byyyyyyyyye :-*
