An admittingly trivial yet stomach-turning annoyance.

My friend cgranade has this patch of wall outside of his dorm room that he covers in provacative articles. He lives down the hall from me, so it isn't suprising that I find myself reading the stuff he posts now and then. As I was doing so this afternoon, I heard some really obnoxious yelling coming from a nearby room: it was a resident playing a MMORPG, paticularly World of Warcraft by the sound of it. He was, um, fustrated at what was going on in-game. He was using paticular configurations of words that, if I were to type them out, would have to be heavily filtered. It's something I've noticed when hanging around the (Penny Arcade-style) gamer crowd: what is it with their fixation on the idea of rape? It isn't very flattering. Something bothers me about that disconnect; I doubt they would mention it so flippantly if they had ever been exposed to it.

Classic human behavior: it hasn't happened to them but the concept still frightens them. They resort to turning it into humor to keep it from connecting to anything concrete in their moral or ethical thought centers. IF YOU DON'T SEE THE FNORD IT CAN'T EAT YOU, basically.

I stopped saying it ever since you pointed it out to me. Seriously. I don't even /curse/. That still boggles me to this day...

Except when a level ?? WTF Hippogryff suddenly appears behind you and kills you in two hits with this rapid headbob hipthrust while flapping behind you.

It... looks pretty much like nonconsensual buttsechs.

And makes you very dead.

... and Kai. Cos... Kai gets it that way.
