An admittingly trivial yet stomach-turning annoyance.

My friend cgranade has this patch of wall outside of his dorm room that he covers in provacative articles. He lives down the hall from me, so it isn't suprising that I find myself reading the stuff he posts now and then. As I was doing so this afternoon, I heard some really obnoxious yelling coming from a nearby room: it was a resident playing a MMORPG, paticularly World of Warcraft by the sound of it. He was, um, fustrated at what was going on in-game. He was using paticular configurations of words that, if I were to type them out, would have to be heavily filtered. It's something I've noticed when hanging around the (Penny Arcade-style) gamer crowd: what is it with their fixation on the idea of rape? It isn't very flattering. Something bothers me about that disconnect; I doubt they would mention it so flippantly if they had ever been exposed to it.
