If you mouse over your own head, it says "This is you". Cheeky.

Check this out: mouse over my robot icon there. See that drop down stuff? If you don't want to use email, and you find leaving "message comments" just somehow wrong, you can message people directly. Provided people know about their inbox, and go and change the settings on it so they know when to check it. Speaking of which, you should do that. Livejournal can do anything these days, provided people notice. None of the new stuff they've added over the last three years has been entirely intergrated.

raiblu: Message Comments

I remember complaining about this once, but it was kind of a unique gripe. 'Message comments' are rarely made by people who regular LJ, it seems-- usually with me it was always someone who isn't too net-savvy and who didn't know me that well. I barely get comments as it is, so it really bugs me. XD

I don't explore livejournal as much as I should. Heck, I don't make entries as often as I should.

Hmm, that's odd. I swear I remember someone saying there aren't any private messages on LiveJournal, or they were only available to paid accounts or something. But evidently they were wrong if that actually happened and I'm not just hallucinating or something.

It was added just a few weeks ago, but existing users need to tinker with it for it really work. As it is, you can PM people and they might not notice. So, uh, the usefulness of it might not be immediately apparent. Oh, it works -- quite well! -- it just has some overly cautious defaults. It doesn't send you any instant messages or emails for much of any reason until you make it so. I mean, it can even totally replace Joule with just a few check bozes and a "save settings". Of course, this is your introduction to Joule, so I don't know why I brought it up -- what would it mean for you if something you've never heard of before being replaced?

So, um, yeah. I don't think we've ever talked before. Hi, I'm Mass, I'm crazy. Pleased to meet you.

Hmm, that's odd. Maybe I should take a look at the settings. Added just a few weeks ago eh? Must have missed that.

I'm not sure if we've talked before, no. I don't usually comment that often on journal entries. I can never seem to think of much to say. Pleased to meet you too.

I've typed hundreds of pages of comments that I just close the tab on instead of posting them. There's hundreds of times I just said "..." when I meant to say something. Usually I begin to second guess if it adds anything, or assume somebody's said it better. Usually I can't think of much to say, either.

Guess it's not just me, then. Yeah, I do tend to wonder if my comments are going to add anything, too.

At the very least, they add one comment!

That's true.
