Christmas does exist! PRAISE SANTA
Okay, this is the first time I've had any access to the Internet in six months that isn't on somebody else's machine, so no paranoia and NO. REGRETS.
Anyhow, I like this little guy. It's an iBook, I don't know completely how old. Less than four years, I'm guessing, but before the Intel switch. I'm having to confront I'm not a Mac expert, but it's not like I'm having any serious usability problems. You know what? If I get the chance, I'm going to get a new drive for this guy and see if I can't get a few years of use of him. Besides the SMART-failing drive, the hardware's still in great condition. Hell, the battery still works and everything. It needs to be cleaned, though. I'm persnickety about my machines, and this one's got those impressions from the keys on the screen, and the external power supply has crud on it, and the bottom of touch pad button has a layer of grease and lint on it and... uhhg. I may clean it right now.

I can help you with the Mac stuff, having some older iBooks myself. Give me a ring over AIM sometime :)

I believe I very well will, as soon as I figure out the best method through which to do that. I've used to be a Pidgin guy, but I got in the habit of dwelling only on GMAIL, but that doesn't work on Dial-herp. So I guess I'm returning to Pidgin for a little while. This will be fun.

Adium is the Mac equivalent of Pidgin, based on the same core (libpurple).

That is a thing that is good to know! And so it shall be.
Anyhow, I'd spaced just how much you rely on the super-keys. There's function and control and alt/option, and then there's... erk... how do you pronounce that? ERGhrkbLAHK! Hash with connecties! And it's also the Apple key. Yeesh. In any case, you end up using all of them. If you want a context menu, for instance. I'm sure with a little experimentation and experience it will be second nature. Plus, with the alt/option key, I can go ∂ or ∑ or even ¬ any time I want. ¥å¥! ^______^

My ongoing affairs with portable computing devices is murky at best... but I will also say that they are wonderful things that help keep us around. x3 Congrats. :D

PC laptops are kinda unreliable. I think Apple just won me over with their portable machines based on the fact that this guy is in such fantastic shape after what must have been an exciting life. I kinda feel like a traitor to Linux, though, having a good experience on a non-ix guy.
When those feelings get to be too much, I remember that it's all just BSD back there somewhere and I open up a terminal to see BASH and everything's fine. |D
Oh, that doesn't remind me: I've been just sitting on five pages of plain text I need to email you, but I got caught up with this. Now we can talk a lot more, so I don't think I'll be hitting you in the face with too many more of those!

One of these days I'll get a mac, but I'll have to get my PC back up to the time-standard first, at that point... PC laptops are problematic but I end up with them because they're dirt cheap at the time. xD I want to dual-OS it so bad. :< But I keep having issues.
I don't mind long mails. I tend to be wordy, except when I'm running around the apartment for run reason or another... or I just leave these unfinished for an hour. Hm...
