Decent root beer. That's something nice. I should get some. You should get some.

Sorry about the silence. Come to think of it, I take that back, I really doubt anybody even noticed, and if they did I doubt it provoked anything so it's all good. Anyway, the reason why is because my hands, well, mostly just my dominant hand, is kinda sore from all the drawing I did over the week. I went from 1-2 hours a day average to like 10ish hours a day until Friday night. Although it's cool to know I can do things like that now, it uh has a price tag on it. I don't want to end up like a friend of mine who has these special weights, and this special exercise routine, yeah, don't want to end up like that. So I've been on light duty, just mild doodling until tomorrow. Again, not that anybody-- wait, this is my Livejournal, and this is the kind of crap we keep it for so YOU KNOW WHAT.

That's right more banality. Hey, why didn't anybody mention that Ursala V had a webcomic? I would have been reading it the whole time. Pfft. Oh well, better late than never. It's kind of fun to just read through the archives anyhow. Well, it would be if it weren't an exercise of patience on dial-up.

So is today the solstice? Or tomorrow? Nice to know we're re-entering the light. Of course, it's just the beginning of the winter for us up here. At least we're not stuck in a huge wet blizzard anymore.

OH. That would explain it. Honestly, the best strategy for somebody with professional-level artistic virtuoso like UV would be to use a webcomic base as a way to smash into some kind of publishing. I mean, she obviously intends to have a printed version of Digger in circulation somehow, just looking at the format, so she's already doing that. Even much less skilled folks have discovered that if anything, that's a how a webcomic can be financially supportive on it's own. Well, that and merchandise. Just think, all of Topataco's membership pretty much make their living through it and a few things directly related to their comic. I don't think any of them even work freelance besides. Interesting that I hadn't thought about the long-term repercussions of that before.

For as much as I LOVE the comic medium, I don't think I could do it as a living in any way. I have the discipline (I did not know that until quite recently!), and I will eventually have the skill, but I'm not sure I could court the public well enough.

I used to be a total and complete addict, but these days I'm a bit more selective. I think I just got older. Still, true love never dies.
