And wouldn't you know it, Heart Gold and Soul Silver are out. Who beside Rai and I are playing it?

If only my brother could find his DS, I'd have a Gengar already. As it is, I have a foot-tall stuffed one that makes for a poor substitute. Fri, Mar. 19th, 2010 10:48 am (UTC)
Yeah, the trade-to-evolve ones are sad to play through with. Don't feel bad, I'd taken down Elite fours with them before, grumbling the whole time. As it stands, it looks like I'm going to have to wait until post-game until I can get a shiny stone for my Togetic. Bugger, I say. Oh, and I think I may be main-lining a Magmar, and so i believe I'm in the same position as you. Even better, you can raise a Magnemite, but you're not beating this game's Elite four with a Magnezone, I'll bet. With how they've added all these evolutions, you're screwed when you're playing a remake. Wait, how would one get a Glaceon or a Leafeon? You get an Eevee in this game, I know that much, because this is when they introduced Umbreon and Espeon. I, uh, I didn't play Gold or Silver the first time around, so this is an double the adventure for me. What do you think of the Voltorb tile game? Do you like it better than the classic slots? So it's okay, but I do miss slots. Sat, Mar. 20th, 2010 06:19 am (UTC)
A lot of people have been comparing it to minesweeper, but the comparisons are superficial in gameplay. Remember, you're looking for the number tiles, not the 'mines' as it were. I couldn't figure out how to play it all until I realized that. Don't mess with rows that obviously have any tile cards in them, and try to make relatively low-risk flips that give you information. If it absolutely comes down to a fifty-fifty all or nothing situation, just take the coins by quitting and try again: I find that works out better coin-wise. I like it because it reminds me of Sudoku if anything, and I can idly play it while listening to the radio or whatever. FYI: the dratini you get from there comes with dragon rage and twister. Seriously. I'm not training the one that I got because it... it would make me feel dirty. I may change my mind on that, I'm in the mid-game level-thirty funk; I'm committed to two pokemon on the team, but the rest I'm unsure of. Hmm. Maybe I should pull a full raid on the safari zone and scrounge all the areas I've been to thus far and see if I haven't overlooked any possibilities. I spent a full month pondering which starter I was going to go with, and Rai made the same choice as me. I'm his RIVAL so instead I went with Feralgator. Well, you know, it will be in a few more levels. the G/S starters are awesome. Meganium is a tank, Cyndaquil is a nasty sweeper, and Feralgator can do just about anything as long as it uses his attack. Who did you go with? Mon, Mar. 22nd, 2010 08:59 pm (UTC)
I have four that I'm really attatched to, namely Togetic, Faralgtr (natch), Growlithe (fire stone? where aaaaaare yooooou?!), and an Ampharos. I... I can't figure out what else I want to raise! I've tried a few alternates, but nothing really complements the others, or I've raised one of them twice kinda deals. Also, there are like a hundred water types at this point, most of them really cool in their own way, but there are too many. Sun, Mar. 21st, 2010 07:59 am (UTC)

You know, between us three, we have all the starters. Cute! Mon, Mar. 22nd, 2010 08:51 pm (UTC)
This installment has a ton of stuff to do pre-post game at any point. (Pre... post... game? Is that right?) |
