It cares not about your pyramid schemes
So, we're all environmentalists now, huh?
I've been biting my tongue on this whole matter for some time now. For one thing, I'm an Alaskan, and when you say "Exxon" to me, I finish with "Valdez oil spill". Now every American finishes "BP" with "oil spill". Serves 'em right.
What gets me, and try to stay with me here, is the whiplash I'm getting from all the rainy day environmentalists. I'm seeing people that treated the topic of environmental preservation and responsibility like it was a joke, like it wasn't real. And now the inevitable happens nearby where they live, and it's now they're crying for change? Now? Don't get me wrong, I'm more than happy to see some people come around, but it shouldn't have taken twenty-four hour coverage of thousand-gallon crude oil waves blanketing the Southern shoreline. That's Too Late, in my opinion.
Mean-fucking-while, global climate change is still considered a controversial issue, in that one side is continuing to fund itself. Keep being angry with BP, of course, but I don't know, reduce your garbage output. Recycle. Prefer locally produced organic produce, I don't know, do something practical like that. Turn your lights off when you leave the room. Participate in this shit. It's not a spectator thing, okay?
Of course, most of the people that this is aimed at aren't going to be reading any of this, but whatever. I need to get it out of my system.
