A public service anouncement.

From SomethingAwful.com, on Friday, January 16th.

I respect these things, demand that they be afforded their rights under the law, and then I turn to virtually everyone reading this and I say "let's fucking get them!" As long as they can hide in their IRC rooms, message boards, and websites they can shield themselves from perspective. That's where every single one of us has to come in, actively pursuing an aggressive and unwavering dialogue with each of these groups that we encounter. Don't turn your eyes from their websites, spam their guestbook with a thousand repetitions of "HORRRRRRRRRRSECOCK" displayed in 72 point red letters. Invade their message boards and tell them how detestable they are. Upload insulting illustrations to their art sites. They will draw in on themselves and ossify, while any who might be lured in to their clutches will see the horde clamoring at the gates and turn away.

This is the sort of activity we have always advocated here at Something Awful; the sort of juvenile behavior that I am honestly proud to support. I hope this piece has given you some insight as to why I think it's more than just an amusing diversion.
- Zack "Geist Editor" Parsons

For some time, I've defended SomethingAwful. I've always said things like, "Only a few of the thousands of people that go to SA are actually spam message boards, demolish guest books, and so on. There're just stupid kids, and they'll get bored and grow out of it. Besides, the rest of the people there are cool enough to compensate, if what a few of my friends tell me. Hey, Photoshop Phriday is cool, right?" "A lot of furs are just overreacting. Persecution complex; they need to just relax." "Most furs would agree with what is said about furs on the SA message board. (See previous)"

I'd like to take this chance to apologize. I didn't know what the farg I was talking about. They (or at least a considerable, vocal minority) are self-rightous, pretentious, juvenile, knee-jerk neoconformists, and evidently, a good portion of the editors at Something Awful are encouraging all of the more foul behaviour we have seen from these people.

If you or one of your loved ones frequents SA, please, encourage them not to fall into this "Let us ride forth and cleanse yonder Internet, comrades!" mindtrap.

OR, IF YOU PREFER: This is the coalition... to ban coalitions!... XD

My god! You're turning into Kincaid!

I agree, though. This SA-goon behavior must be curtailed. Cry havoc, and let slip the dogs of war! (that's "Let's Roll" for you patriots)

They demolished FurryVideoGames.org for hosting some furry Sims skins.    All that's left is the ITE interview.  That site was huge, was built up over years.   I used to be a contributor.

Damn, they actually destroyed a site? Now I'm convinced of what masstreble says above: Photoshop Phriday does not make up for this crap.

Photoshop Phriday isn't even BY them, they just host it!

I just read the whole article that's from.

What's funny is that a few paragraphs from it could be reworded slightly, and it'd be about Something Awful itself. All that stuff about hiding in cloistered enclaves, reinforcing each other's deviant behavior, and oh yes, the stuff about talented people wasting their skills and not contributing anything positive to the world. :}

Hmmm. I wonder how long it will be before Something Awful does something really stupid somewhere and gets in legal trouble. I don't think I'll be surprised if it does someday.

that's seriously a major blow to the testicles.... I get online once..maybe more a week and see this... that's really depressing. I do hope they do something stupid and get themselves into legal trouble. ....*refrains from a cursing storm* I'm not going to lower myself to the standard of bashing from 5000 miles away. I'm just going to pray to every god/goddess that I can think of that the building/s that SA's host servers are contained in get blown up by a renegade Jihad induced nuclear launch....... ummmm GO Taliban????
*ok I didn't mean that last part*
