Holidays. North Americans really take to the idea of the nationally recognized holiday; we have many of them, some of them rather ridiculous (such as George Bush Jr.'s Marrige week fiasco). So, here's my addition to the calander-cramming orgy: Day Day.
Day Day, the Day of Days. It's all holidays combined into one. People dress up, remember stuff, have parades, give food to one another, make big feasts, have big religious ceremonies, try to scare one another -- if it happens on any holiday anywhere, it's a part of Day Day. It will be a celebration of celebrations, a party for parties, a ritual of rituals -- a meta-holiday, if you will. First and foremost, however, it will be a great, big mess.
